Some of the best and brightest in the Darkwave, Post-Punk, and Industrial scene have gathered on one album to lend their talents to cover and completely reshape some of the 80's best anthems. The songs we grew up with, and still jam to this day, are given new life by amazing acts such as (but not limited to) Betty X, Microwaved, PreCog, Bow Ever Down, and Missing in Stars. For example, Betty X teams up with LeviLevi and Bangalore for a manic and playful take on Pat Benatar's "Hit Me with Your Best Shot". And songs we know by heart are twisted and contorted into something completely different, like Doors in the Labyrinth's take on "Dead Man's Party", and the sinister sounding rendition of "Sunglasses at Night" as done by Planetdamage. Meanwhile, "Take My Breath Away", the collaboration between Hororhaus and Bow Ever Down, does exactly that, providing a fresh take that still stays true to the power the original song holds over our hearts. So many amazing songs from a variety of incredible talents, and it is all for a very worthy cause. "Retronomicon" was made to benefit the legendary Charles Levi (bassist for My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, Pigface, etc), who's life was turned upside down in 2021, during the height of the pandemic. Hit with unexpected medical costs, and suffering from a lack of income, a select few banded together to help out. Sometimes it takes the stars to align for incredible things to manifest, sometimes it takes a tragedy, or a friend's call for help. But it will always take a village to raise each other up, as is put into such beautiful practice on "Retronomicon: Tributes for the New American Century and Beyond".
Standout Tracks: "Oh, Father" by PreCog, "Dead Man's Party" by Doors in the Labyrinth, and "You Take My Breath Away" by Bow Ever Down and Hororhaus, with honorable mention to "The Chauffeur" as done by Betty X.
