Synical, "This Will All Happen Again" Album Review

Gothic Dance/Electro Rock outfit Synical have released their first album in 11 years, and it comes out swinging high. Featuring guest spots from members of The Newlydeads, Genitorturers, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, and Bauhaus, "This Will All Happen Again" is packed with legendary talent, and each song is a strong display of that. Setting an ominous mood with the opening instrumental of "Mount Resentment", the words "don't worry, be happy" repeat while somber guitars and keys fill the background. "Homesick" kicks in with a midtempo march, as Brian Haught's melancholic yet sneering vocals begin to weave in between the driving attack of the guitars and electronics. "Different Then" is a star-studded dark disco, featuring Kevin Haskins, David J, and the indomitable Groovie Mann. 10 songs deep, and a satisfying 40 minutes long, "This Will All Happen Again" has so many different dynamics and temp shifts, but never fails to have a beat or shuffle that will get you off your feet. Hard to believe that this album was 11 years in the making, as it swings and grooves like there was never any time between albums.

Standout Tracks: "Trapeze" and "Different Then".
