Sorrow Stories, "Pulled Apart" EP Review

Who would've ever thought that 5 songs across a 23 minute playtime could hold so much emotional power? Sorrow Stories is here to prove that this is absolutely the case on the new EP, "Pulled Apart". Helmed solely by Tina Forlorn, she brings forth 4 new original tracks and one instrumental that pack quite the emotional gut punch. Drenched in melancholic synths, and backed by deep basslines and midi-style percussion, the soundscapes are set for Tina to let her voice come center stage and paint it's mournful portrait against a stylized backdrop. The opening and title track, "Pulled Apart", starts off with a rather upbeat cadence that is immediately juxtaposed by the following track "How Far Down". Marching to a more somber beat, the lyrics ask a foreboding question of "how far to hit the ground when you're already down?" The bass pulses as moody synthesizers pull you into a downward spiral. Remarkable in its vulnerability, the entirety of "Pulled Apart" is as beautifully written as it is cathartic to the spirit that has seen and felt so much in their lifetime.

Standout Track: "How Far Down"
