After teasing the internet for a couple of months with a series of three singles, dark scene titans Sever the Servants have finally released their debut EP. Consisting of Mike Nolen (Long After Midnight) on vocals, and Hide Tepes (Carrion) on instruments and programming, the dark duo have hit the ground running with a release that will leave a lasting impact on industrial music for years to come. Utilizing a minimalistic approach to their, Hide masterfully crafts sinister soundscapes that, unlike a lot of industrial/electronic music in the market, does not get lost in a myriad of unnecessary layers. To top it all off, Mike Nolen’s vocals add a haunting depth to the mix. Some songs invoke the spirit of Skinny Puppy, and others play similarly to “The Downward Spiral” era Nine Inch Nails. “Get In The Grave” has a strong beat that could easily be heard at a club night, and makes me want to strap on my old stompy boots. Sever the Servants debut EP can be found on most streaming sites, and was produced by Produkt 42 out of Colorado Springs, CO. Congratulations on a stellar first release!
