A gathering of brilliant minds takes form in the collective known as Sequential Zero. Featuring Ant Bannister of Sounds Like Winter, Bruce of Orcus Nullify, and Colin Gallagher of Burnt Souls, the trio has come together with their respective sounds and influences to release the first single, "It's Not About You", from their brand new album. Blending both Cold and Darkwave with hints of the poppier sounds of New Wave, "It's Not About You" is an open letter to that one person we have all had in our lives, the one who would sooner bring everyone down than admit that they were wrong. Boldly cathartic and anthemic in its lyrical content, it is matched by the musical composition that is as dark and moody as it is extremely danceable. Melancholic synthesizers accompany jangly guitars and brooding bass lines, while the percussion tattoos an upbeat march. The music video is a static washed dream sequence that looks like a fever dream broadcasted onto the channels local cable barely picks up, lending a delightfully eerie and surreal quality to the whole production. This is definitely not a song, or band to pass up, especially considering the high praise that was given to Orcus Nullify's latest album that we reviewed earlier this year!
