Industrial-electro titans, Krate are back with their fourth studio effort, "It's the Hope that Kills You". This time they are bringing some hard hitters from the dark music scene. The 5 song EP includes the talents of Dan Milligan (The Burying Kind, The Joy Thieves), Kimberly Bow Ever Down, Terry Cooke (Fakzility), Frederik Vorderhake (Liquid Black Goo), and Jan Van Coppenolle (Numbered Men). Overall, the EP plays like the older industrial sounds of the 80's and 90's; cacophonous, brooding, and full of dangerous din. The immense percussion carries through on all the tracks, and is delightfully danceable, without becoming angry disco music. As the title of the EP suggests, the mood of the music is rather bleak, focusing on the hopelessness of life, creating a dark ambience that is complimented by the gorgeous composition of the instrumentals. Don't sleep on "It's the Hope that Kills You". One can listen to each of the 5 tracks and find something new every time.
Standout Track: "Horizon Sinking"
