Dichro, "Stained Glass" Album Review

Darkwave and goth sensibilities combine with anthemic rock and soaring hooks on Dichro's new album, "Stained Glass". Formed during the pandemic, Dichro do not hold back with their voice on socio-political issues, as they gathered plenty of verbal ammunition during that bleak period of time. Songs like "The Reclamation" and "One Lane Bridge" are absolutely biting, packing a venomous and vitriolic punch. Bombastic electronics dance around buzzsaw guitar riffs and pounding rhythms from the drums and bass, all while vocalist Charmaine delivers a truly unique approach with her voice. Alternating between an almost jazz-like flow to absolutely enchanting belted melodies, her vocal approach would make legendary acts like Inkubus Sukkubus proud. The opening track, "In the Cathedral" has a swagger and stomp that is utterly infectious (think along the lines of "Bloodletting (The Vampire Song) by Concrete Blonde), setting the tone and pace for the rest of the album. Closing track, "Mercenaries", is an epic dance-party and a satisfying way to bring an end to the 11 track LP, all the while leaving the listener wanting more. "Stained Glass" is such a strong debut, the only way for Dichro to go from here is up!

Standout Tracks: "In The Cathedral", "One Lane Bridge".
