Bibo & Beyond, "The World You Wanted" Album Review

Gritty and gloriously unpolished, Bibo & Beyond bring a harsh approach to minimalist darkwave. Think if The Frozen Autumn were a touch noisier, if the synths were serrated like a buzzsaw. Hailing from both Italy and Poland, and appearing courtesy of InClub Records, Bibo & Beyond are set to bring their beautiful noise across the globe. Starting with the mid-tempo opening track, "Revelation", we are given a taste of what is to come as droning male vocals intertwine with a more sonorous female voice, dancing across a dystopian soundscape, effectively setting the scene for the rest of the album. "Let The Sun Shine On You" is a bass and percussion driven jam, until about 90 seconds in where the most interesting break happens before kicking into a supremely catchy chorus kicks in. "Encoder" is a club ready anthem that is beautifully draped in static, and is easily one of the best songs on the album. "Drowning" is the last of 7 original songs before we are treated to 2 remixes of "The World You Wanted" and one remix of "Encoder". "Drowning" features a much sharper percussive approach that contrasts wonderfully with the pounding bass and droning noise of the synths, and is overall a super catchy way to end the run of original songs, effectively leaving the listener craving more. As minimalism becomes more of a catching trend within the dark music scene, Bibo & Beyond have really carved out their niche and are deserving of more recognition.

Standout Tracks: "Drowning", "Encoder", and the Low Blows remix of "The World You Wanted".
