Bestial Mouths, "Backbone" Remix Album Review

Hot on the heels of last year's "R.O.T.T (inmyskin)", Bestial Mouths are back with the remixed and reimagined versions of the album. This remix album is nothing but star studded, including tracks redone by some of the scene's best and brightest. "Backbone" features heavy hitters like Broken English Club, ACTORS, Curses, Carrelee, genCAB, Lana Del Rabies, and Bedless Bones, just to name a few. "Vast Murmur" is the only song to not feature a twin remix, but Broken English Club does it justice, bringing some danceable industrial stomp, which makes for an incredibly strong opening track. Each artist takes their turn, injecting their own magic and vibes, effectively elevating Bestial Mouths already experimental sound into new and uncharted territories. Ranging from club-ready bangers, to more low-key trance beats, the array of sounds on "Backbone" is nothing short of mind blowing. Literally, there is something for everyone across the 17 tracks. While I am personally not the biggest fan of remixes, "Backbone" is so varied and adventurous that it is hard to not fall for each track in its individuality from the rest.

Standout tracks: Both remixes for "Road of Thousand Tears" by Carrelee and Bedless Bones. The song in its original form was already beautiful, but both artists took it a lot further in their respective remixes.
