Best of 2023, Best Darkwave Album: A Covenant Of Thorns, "Ashes"

While I did not get around to writing a review for this album, "Ashes" is definitely a release that constantly found its way into my regular rotation. Scott-David Allen continues to prove that he is a master of his craft, displaying his brand of carefully composed soundscapes and emotive lyrics. While "Ashes" does not set out to reinvent the wheel or break the formula the A Covenant Of Thorns has had such great success and longevity with, it will leave a lasting impact long after the closing track fades.
