Ashes Fallen, "Walk Through Fire" Album Review

Modern Gothic Rock outfit, Ashes Fallen, is back with a vengeance, and a point to make, with their newest album, "Walk Through Fire". Hailing from Sacramento, CA, the trio is making waves in the Dark Music scene with their fresh take on classic sounds and poignant social commentary. "Walk Through Fire" does not shy away from engaging in the oft-taboo subject of modern day politics, making bold statements on today's most troubling issues. And for that, this writer commends them; it takes a lot of courage to stray from the path of spooky and occult themes that run rampant in the genre. Ashes Fallen pay tribute to the old and the great with their take on the Goth/Post-Punk sound, with a lot of nods to Fields of the Nephilim. James Perry's guitar work is currently some of the best in the genre as we know it. The combination of the relentless work of the rhythm section is complimented by Michelle Perry's eerie keyboard orchestrations and backing vocals. The most incredible thing about this band is their mastery of dynamics. They know when to make it roar, and they know when to dial it back, and this is best displayed by James Perry's vocal delivery. James can croon with the best of them, but he can also belt and snarl like no one else. Songs like "Damn Me" absolutely rock and gets the body moving, while "Remember Who You Are" and "At The End Of All Things" bring an anthemic approach to a more dirge-like style."Walk Through Fire" is easily one of the best releases of the year, from of the most exciting bands on the market. This should easily be a top contender for Album of the Year.

Standout Tracks: "The Blood is the Life", "Remember Who You Are", but really, the whole album is just incredible.
