Ashes Fallen, "At the End of All Things" Single Review

Sacramento, California's own goth rock trio, Ashes Fallen takes us to the end of the world with their dirge-like new single, "At the End of All Things". The song is 6 minutes of dark post-punk bliss, as the echoes of the genre's greats can be heard as the song marches the listener towards the apocalypse. Lamenting, yet luscious in its melodies, the keys swirl and intertwine with the guitars, while the rhythm section pounds out a death-march that doesn't stop until the very end. Instrumentalist and vocalist James Perry really gets to shine on this track, as his voice carries the song through shifting dynamics. Low and brooding at times, he channels the likes of Andrew Eldritch in his prime. But when James' voice rises, it becomes something so powerful, adding a necessary crescendo with impeccable timing to the arrangement. It is in those moments that Ashes Fallen is beyond comparison and becomes iconic in their own right. If "At the End of All Things" is a taste of what is coming, then the earth will shake with the next release.
