Allie Frost, "Deadly Desert" EP Review

If there is but one word to describe Boston, Massachuset's own Allie Frost, it is haunting. Simply haunting. And her new EP, "Deadly Desert", sets out to prove it. Containing 4 new songs, and one remix, Allie Frost immediately captivates her audience with a dark and moody atmosphere befitting of Salem itself. Blending the usual trappings of Goth and Darkwave (droning bass, and driving percussion), she adds a touch of ethereal dreaminess with a hint of shoegaze into the mix with swirling guitars and synths. What she created is a wonderful soundscape that sounds familiar, but is something uniquely her own. But what really powers her sound is the force of her own voice. Her range and vocal tone pierces, haunts, and allures, like a siren song through a dense fog. The delivery of her vocal performance is something one seldom finds in this genre; instead of a droning monotone, Allie Frost is quite the opposite, bringing a rather prismatic effect to the sound of the instrumentals. In all, "Deadly Desert" was something unexpected, and is quite the feast instead of just being the final course.

Standout Tracks: All. The EP is so good, I could not narrow it down to just a couple choice picks.
